The Surf Discussion Series creates a forum for people to meet and discuss surf related topics including but not limited to, educational discussions & book signings in a casual comfortable atmosphere. This is a free event.

We have this theory around Quiksilver that half of the world's population lives at or near the beach and the other half cannot wait to get there. Everyone has a good experience with the beach.

On May 8, 2008, Niu, a floating sensor device, was launched from Waimea Bay. Observers can track its progress via GPS, and students have a chance to hypothesize about its course. Project Niu is an educational curriculum created by Archinoetics, LLC and sponsored by NOAA's B-WET Hawaii program. Lessons in environmental monitoring, sensing, and modeling techniques will help improve students' understanding of human impact on Hawaii’s watershed.
